Take a look in- and outside my art studio!
I am a Surface Pattern Designer, based in the South of The Netherlands. I love drinking Chai lattes, quiet living and everything green. We live in a quiet rural village and from my studio window I can see the cows and the sheep grazing in the green meadows close to the river. Every day I take walks with our Golden Doodle dog Doerak who sometimes assists me with painting. Nature, gardens and traveling gives me great inspiration to hand-paint vibrant florals, fruits, vegetables, shapes and geometrics in my favorite art medium, Daniël Smith watercolor paint. I work in collections and also stand alone beautiful hero patterns. Sometimes collections are connected by theme, some by color or season. I also enjoy experimenting with different styles and techniques to push the boundaries of traditional surface design.
Letting nature into our homes and gardens by the patterns I design, gives people a warm and welcome feeling.
That is my goal in life.
I am also a wife and a mother and a fulltime business owner.
As a child I was always drawing and being creative. My dream was attending The Art Academy, but that was not allowed back then. Instead of that, I went to The Hotel Academy and sometimes you can see that in my designs inspired by delicious food.
When our two sons grew older I took tailor classes, but I noticed that I was always drawn to the design of the fabric.
I came across SPD and took several intensive courses and art classes for three years. I learned Surface Pattern Design from Rachelle owner of Pattern and Design in Melbourne, Australia.
Wether you need a custom print for your fashion line or are looking to add some personality to your home decor products, I am confident that I can deliver designs that will exceed your expectations.
